Most Inspiring People in the World
Stephen William Hawking
(born 8 January 1942) is a British theoretical physicist and cosmologist, whose scientific career spans over forty years. His books and public appearances have made him an academic celebrity and he is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a lifetime member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, and in 2009 was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States.
He is suffering from motor neurone disease came when Hawking was 21, shortly before his first marriage, and doctors said he would not survive more than two or three years. Hawking gradually lost the use of his arms, legs, and voice, and as of now has been almost completely paralysed.
In Hawking's many media appearances, he appears to speak fluently through his synthesizer, but in reality, it is a tedious drawn-out process. Hawking's setup uses a predictive text entry system, which requires only the first few characters in order to auto-complete the word, but as he is only able to use his cheek for data entry, constructing complete sentences takes time.
Hawking's key scientific works to date have included providing, with Roger Penrose, theorems regarding gravitational singularities in the framework of general relativity, and the theoretical prediction that black holes should emit radiation, which is today known as Hawking radiation (or sometimes as Bekenstein–Hawking radiation).
He got the following awards and honours for his extraordinary research. You can imagine how much he would have contributed to this world If he was normal.
Awards and honours
* 1975 Eddington Medal
* 1976 Hughes Medal of the Royal Society
* 1979 Albert Einstein Medal
* 1981 Franklin Medal
* 1982 Order of the British Empire (Commander)
* 1985 Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society
* 1986 Member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences
* 1988 Wolf Prize in Physics
* 1989 Prince of Asturias Awards in Concord
* 1989 Companion of Honour
* 1999 Julius Edgar Lilienfeld Prize of the American Physical Society
* 2003 Michelson Morley Award of Case Western Reserve University
* 2006 Copley Medal of the Royal Society
* 2008 Fonseca Price of the University of Santiago de Compostela
* 2009 Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honour in the US
A person who lost the use of his arms, legs, and voice has contributed and done research with lot of determination, Now this is time to think about ourselves.
Hats Off to Stephen Hawking !

People Who Changed the World in Sports
Pele - I don't watch soccer but, even decades after retirement, his impact in soccer (or football) is remembered. I played football first time when I was in college (JNTUCEK) and always loved the famous 'Bicycle Kick', which I never dared to try.
Michael Jordan - His nickname is "Air Jordan" and "His Airness" who redefined athleticism in basketball (side note, he owns over 1500 shoes). He's one of the most athletic people who changed the world. His dunks are really great in the history of basket ball. I tried dunks many times, I even could not jump a little.
Dhyan Chand - He was an Indian hockey player, widely regarded as the greatest player of all time. Chand won 3 Olympic gold medals (1928 Amsterdam, 1932 Los Angeles, 1936 Berlin) and was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian honour, in 1956.
Even today, Dhyan Chand remains a legendary figure in Indian and world hockey. His astounding skills have been glorified in various apocryphal stories and anecdotes. A number such legends revolve around the fact that Singh had a magical control over dribbling the ball.August 29, Chand's birthday, is celebrated as National Sports Day in India. The President gives away sport-related awards such as the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Arjuna Award and Dronacharya Award on this day at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Some facts
* While playing a hockey game, Major Dhyan Chand was not able to score a goal against the opposition team. After several misses, he argued with the match referee regarding the measurement of the goal post, and amazingly, it was found to not be in conformation with the official width of a goal post (as prescribed under international rules).
* After seeing his prolific play at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, Adolf Hitler offered Dhyan Chand, a Major in the British Indian Army, German citizenship and an offer to promote him to the rank of a Colonel (which Dhyan Chand subsequently refused).
* Tokyo Olympics officials once broke his hockey stick to check for a magnet. Embarrassed at finding nothing, they consoled themselves with the theory of glue.
Billie Jean King - Billie Jean King ( born November 22, 1943 in Long Beach, California) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. She won 12 Grand Slam singles titles, 16 Grand Slam women's doubles titles, and 11 Grand Slam mixed doubles titles. King has been an advocate against sexism in sports and society. She is known for "The Battle of the Sexes" in 1973, in which she defeated 55-year-old Bobby Riggs, a former Wimbledon men's singles champion.
Tiger Woods - Personal issues aside, this guy has redefined modern golf and whose achievements to date rank him among the most successful golfers of all time. Currently the World No. 1, he is the highest-paid professional athlete in the world, having earned an estimated $90.5 million from winnings and endorsements in 2010. When he plays at a tournament, he at least doubles the number of spectators.
Wayne Gretzky - is a former Canadian professional ice hockey player. Nicknamed "The Great One," Gretzky is generally regarded as the best player in the history of the NHL,and has been called "the greatest hockey player ever" by many sportswriters, players and the NHL itself. Upon his retirement on April 18, 1999, he held forty regular-season records, fifteen playoff records, and six All-Star records. He is the only NHL player to total over 200 points in one season—a feat he accomplished four times. In addition, he tallied over 100 points in 15 WHA/NHL seasons, 14 of them consecutive. Gretzky's jersey number, 99, has been retired by all teams in the National Hockey League. He was voted one of six players to the International Ice Hockey Federation's (IIHF) Centennial All-Star Team in a poll conducted by a group of 56 experts from 16 countries.
Jackie Robinson - was the first black Major League Baseball (MLB) player of the modern era. Robinson broke the baseball color line when he debuted with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. As the first black man to play in the major leagues since the 1880s, he was instrumental in bringing an end to racial segregation in professional baseball, which had relegated black players to the Negro leagues for six decades. The example of his character and unquestionable talent challenged the traditional basis of segregation, which then marked many other aspects of American life, and contributed significantly to the Civil Rights Movement.
Jim Thorpe - This guy is amazing! He played professional American football, baseball and basketball. If that wasn't enough, he won olympic gold medals in the decathlon and the pentathlon. One of the most versatile people who changed the world of sports.
Mohammed Ali - Arguably the greatest boxer of all time, is a former American boxer and three-time World Heavyweight Champion, who is widely considered one of the greatest heavyweight championship boxers of all time. As an amateur, he won a gold medal in the light heavyweight division at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. After turning professional, he went on to become the first boxer to win the lineal heavyweight championship three times.
Babe Didrikson Zaharias - was an American athlete named by the Guinness Book of Records, along with Lottie Dod, as the most versatile female competitor. She played sports between the 1930-1950's when women weren't supposed to sweat. Played professional golf and won three gold medals in hurdles and the javelin. It was her spunk that put her on this list. She achieved outstanding success in golf, basketball, and track and field.

A Butterfly’s Lesson
”One day, a small opening appeared in a cocoon; a man sat and watched for the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole.
Then, it seems to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could not go any further.
So the man decided to help the butterfly: he took a pair of scissors and opened the cocoon.
The butterfly then emerged easily.
But it had a withered body, it was tiny and shriveled wings.
The man continued to watch because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would open, enlarge and expand, to be able to support the butterfly’s body, and become firm.
Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a withered body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly.
What the man, in his kindness and his goodwill did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening, were God’s way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings, so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.
Sometimes, struggles are exactly what we need in our life.
If God allowed us to go through our life without any obstacles, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as we could have been. Never been able to fly.
I asked for Strength... and God gave me difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for Wisdom...and God gave me problems to solve.
I asked for prosperity...and God gave me a brain and brawn to work.
I asked for Courage…..and God gave me obstacles to overcome.
I asked for Love...and God gave me troubled people to help.
I asked for Favors...And God gave me Opportunities.
“I received nothing I wanted...But I received everything I needed."
Live life without fear, confront all obstacles and know that you can overcome them.
HAVE A GREAT DAY :)

People Who Changed the World in Technology:
There are countless people who changed the world. This is as per my knowledge and perceptions , and you are free to enter your ideas at the bottom of this page. So, here we go.
1. Einstein -
Reinvented 20th century physics with over 300 papers. He actually spent 10 years figuring out the Theory of Relativity (e=mc^2) and the paper was just 3 pages long. Defintely one of the smartest people who changed the world in science.
2.Sir Isaac Newton -
Thanks to an apple falling from a tree, he came up with the law of gravity. Developed theories which became classical or Newtonian Physics. We still use his equations to this day.
3.Charles Darwin -
Credited with the theory of Evolution. Who would've thought we evolved from apes?
4.Galileo Galilei -
He is considered the "Father of Science". He went against the Catholic church for his ideas and was placed under house arrest. Amazing that his ideas actually came through.
5.Louis Pasteur -
First to prove the Germ Theory, and invented the pasteurization process. Almost all of our milk has been cooked; we have him to thank for it.
6.Bi Sheng -
Considered to be the inventor of paper. The invention was like the internet at the time. It allowed people to exchange and pass down ideas. Only thing is, the Chinese government banned the printing press at the time. To me, he's one of the most underrated people who changed the world.
7.Neils Bohr -
discovered fundamental structure of the Atom which paved the way for quantum physics. I still remember the Bohr model discussed in my high school chemistry class.
8.Werner Heisenberg -
The nobel prize science winner for the foundations Quantum mechanics. Guys like him are the reasons we have computers.
9.Nikola Tesla -
Best known for inveting the AC-Alternating Current, but also invented the radio. Competitor, Thomas Edison was probably a better 'businessman', but Tesla's standards is the one that prevailed for 'lighting the world' with alternating currents.
10.Sigmund Freud -
A psychologist best known for his unconsious mind theories, which was later discovered to be composed of about 80% our brain.
What do you think? Did I miss whom you admire more in this category?

People who Changed the World in Politics:
There are countless people who changed the world. This is as per my knowledge and perceptions , and you are free to enter your ideas at the bottom of this page. So, here we go.
1. Mahatma Gandhi -
This guy is at the top of my list. He popularized the non-voilent movement. He stopped eating "sugar" only so he could tell a child to give up sugar. He sure lives by the phrase, "be the change you wish to see".
2.Queen Elizabeth I -
Queen of one of the most successful monarchs, who defeated the Spanish Armada which laid the foundation for the British Empire. She probably did more to change the perception of what women can do than anyone else on the planet.
3.Augustus Caesar -
This guy took the the first "Democratic Republic", the Roman Empire, to the big time (it was already big, partly thanks to his great uncle Julius). However, his focus was building "internal" strength which allowed technologies such as roads and agriculture to flourish. Technologies we still use today.
4.George Washington -
First president of the United States, but who knew at the time what kind of country they were building. It went from a fragile country to the "800 pound gorilla" in 200 short years.
5.Nelson Mandela -
He was a prisoner in South Africa and became the first black president in South Africa. Who would've thought a person sent wrongfully to prison could be a president. He's one of the most opressed people who changed the world.
6.Abraham Lincoln -
A president who fought to give the country heart. One of the most influential people that helped abolished slavery.
7.Winston Churchill -
Outgunned, outmanned he perservered against the Nazi war machine. Any person taking a stand against all odds has my handshake.
8.Anwar El Sadat -
Third president of Egypt that took the country to a whole new direction of bringing power to the people. He knew there would be a good chance he would be assasinated for trying to bring peace in the region.
9.Martin Luther King Jr. -
Greatly influenced by Thoreau and Gandhi for the non-violent movement. I couldn't imagine life before his influence.
10.Socrates -
Considered to be the founder of western thought. He wasn't a political leader 'per se', but his influence is beyond measure. He was assasinated for just asking tough questions.
